Remembering The Masters: The Life and Art of Aaron Douglas

This presentation will provide an in-depth look at the life and art of Aaron Douglas. We will explore the personal story of his life, from his childhood in Topeka, Kansas to his key role in the Harlem Renaissance. We will look at his education, his early career, and his eventual move to New York City.

As we explore his art, we will discuss the themes and styles that embody his work. We will also learn about how his art was shaped by the social and cultural changes of the Harlem Renaissance. We will look at how Douglas combined traditional African motifs with classical European styles in his works.

Finally, we will discuss the legacy of Aaron Douglas, both as a great artist and an icon of Black-American history and culture. This presentation will give us a comprehensive look at the life and art of Aaron Douglas and his important contributions to the Harlem Renaissance.
