Painting With Purpose

Join us for a 90-minute class that combines painting, art history and a deep dive into the lives of some of the artist that shaped the Black American contribution to American art.

More than just exploring culture and art history, this is an opportunity to stretch your own creative muscles while developing your own works utilizing some of the techniques of the master works that we will explore.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Introduce participants to the fundamental processes of visual perception and artistic expression.

  • Develop students’ confidence in using painting as a primary medium for artistic expression.

  • Develop students’ ability to verbalize ideas and processes in art making.

  • Develop understanding of art history, major styles and contemporary issues in painting.
