How important has the presence of black artists been in modern art?

The presence of black artists in modern art has been essential to developing contemporary art. The current movement began in Europe, with fewer restrictions on who could be an artist and what kinds of art could be created. This allowed for a high number of black artists to emerge and make an impact on the world.

The Harlem Renaissance was one of the most critical moments in the history of black artists. This movement took place in the 1920s and 1930s, when many African Americans moved to Harlem, New York City, for opportunities that were unavailable to them in other areas. Artists like Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston also rose to prominence during this period.

During this period, people worldwide flocked to Harlem to see what was happening there. Other areas also had their movements going on at this time: Greenwich Village in New York City had its literary movement called "The Lost Generation." In contrast, Chicago's jazz scene influenced many composers, such as Duke Ellington and Count Basie.
